Women's March Commemorative Watercolor

by Lauren Wooden, Vermont Watercolorist

With all the changes happening in our country, Vermonters' voices needed to be heard and added to the voices of other women and men around the country expressing concern about our country's new leadership. I joined my husband, friends, and 15,000-20,000 other Vermonters in Montpelier on January 21, 2017 to be part of that collective voice.  I was overcome with that sense of 'not being alone' and the importance of commitment to the greater good.

As a watercolorist, I expressed that feeling in this painting. So many friends have requested postcards, cards, and prints to share with their friends and fellow marchers that I knew I had to make it more widely available. I chose Emerge Vermont to share in the profits, as it is so crystal clear to me that women need to have our majority voices heard and supported. So, write those postcards to your officials, look into that crowd when you need to feel supported and know you are not alone.  Oh - and run for office!
